Triumphant, joyful blues-soaked R&B live at Atlantis:
Curtis Salgado Band feat. The London Horns (USA)
Three Blues Music Awards Winner 2017
Among film aficionados, he is known as the role model and great inspiration for John Belushi’s „Joliet Jake“ of „Blues Brothers“ fame: harmonica player, singer, bandleader and songwriter Curtis Salgado from Portland (Oregon).
With their prize-winning comeback album „Soul Shot“, the Curtis Salgado Band won over the Basel audience once before, in 2013 – now they are back under the Groove Now! logo for a second time, again with a gripping new song collection under their belts: „The Beautiful Lowdown“, twice nominated for Blues Music Awards, as best Soul Blues album of the year and for „Walk A Mile In My Blues“ as best blues song of the year. The latter nomination being especially pleasing for Curtis, since he wrote practically the whole album by himself! And that is not all: at the same time, he is listed once more as best male soul-blues singer, showing clearly his rank as „The One and Only Mr. Soul“. No wonder then that Blues Revue calls him „one oft he most soulful, honest singers ever“.
Starting out in the Seventies alongside Robert Cray, going on to front the legendary „Roomful of Blues“ and even singing for Santana, this charismatic enttertainer has been on the road with his own brand of „triumphant, joyful blues-soaked R&B“ for over thirty years. In the recording studio, he has been supported by the renowned Phantom Blues Band, but on tour, he is backed by his hand-picked regular live troupe of first-class West Coast musicians.
