One of the shining stars of tomorrow's blues rock scene
Nick Schnebelen & Band (USA)
Nick (born 1978) is a singer, guitarist, composer and band leader. He comes from a family of musicians from Kansas City, Missouri. His parents and grandparents were musicians, and his two siblings have also become professional musicians. His equally well-known sister – Danielle Nicole – was a guest at Groove Now with her own band and two sold-out concerts at the end of 2019. His brother Kris plays the drums and has been behind his drum kit twice at Groove Now.
All three siblings played together in a band called Trampled Under Foot. The band won the International Blues Challenge in 2008 as the best newcomer band and Nick was also singled out for the Albert King Award for best guitarist. The band has released great albums –“Wrong Side of the Blues” (2011) and “Badlands” (2013) made it to the top of the blues charts on Billboard. Groove Now first presented the band in 2012 and Nick Schnebelen returned as a part of the Blues Giants launched by Groove Now in 2019.
Meanwhile, Danielle and Nick have their own bands. Nick has been a solo artist since 2015. His music embodies a broad spectrum that includes blues, soul, funk and rock and his last CD "Crazy All By Myself" is a perfect example of this diversity. Produced by the Blues Music Award winner Tony Braunagel and members of the Phantom Blues Band, Nick presents an extremely varied and exciting album. He shines with a great, deep voice and very tasteful guitar playing.
Nick is a musician who fully lives his commitment to music. The left-hander is an extremely personable, humble and accessible contemporary with whom you can have a wonderful conversation. His music is characterized by a certain lightness that simultaneous also has depth. He is not interested in a specific style of music per se, but rather pursues the goal that the music should be simple – not to be compared with superficial or irrelevant. He immediately tries to cast a spell over the listener with his music and, at that, he always succeeds.
Nick’s training in classical and in jazz helps him to understand the functionality of the music better. At the same time, his live shows are bursting with energy, which can well be heard on his 2017 live CD "Live in Kansas City".
Ultimately, Nick wants to develop the blues further and carry it into the future, which he achieves with his music. He is a young and extremely talented musician who stands out from the crowd of his peers with his originality, his great guitar playing, his great voice and a passionate live show that captivates the listener.
Nick perfectly embodies the type of musicians that Groove Now wants to present – independent, passionate, honest and highly skilled musicians who bring excitement from the first to the last second.
