The best two blues guitar women together

Sue Foley Band feat. Laura Chavez & The Texas Horns (USA)

Groove Now presents a Texas Blues sensation: The two best blues guitar women of the world together on stage at Groove Now. If this would not be already good enough: We were also able to add one of the hottest horn sections in blues and soul: The legendary Texas Horns. The horns and Sue perform occasionally in Austin together. Also the new rhytmn section speaks for itself containing two cracks that are Antone's trained. Such a line-up ist a little sensation for Europe and especially for Switzerland. Sue is coming exklusively to Basel to celebrate 10 years of Groove Now with the fans. No other European concerts will take place. Don't miss the hottest Texas Blues Revue - you cannot ask for any better.

Canadian Sue Foley has not only received awards in her home country, including numerous Juno and Maple Blues Awards as one of the most remarkable Canadian blues musicians, but also several prestigious international blues awards. But ever since this first-class guitarist and singer successfully immigrated into the legendary music scene of Austin (Texas) almost 30 years ago, she counts as one of the select circle of great Texas blues women, along with famous friends such as Lou Ann Barton, Marcia Ball, Angela Strehli and the late lamented Candye Kane. And on the electric guitar, she may hardly have a serious female rival apart from Californian Laura Chavez – Sue Foley has every right to be called “The Finest Blues Guitar Woman”.

in Basel, both of them will be on stage. Sue Foley as well as Californian Laura Chavez. This is only possible because of the fact that Groove Now has a close relationship with Laura since her first appearance many years back at Groove Now with legendary Candye Kane that unfortunately is not among ourselves anymore.

And if this alone would not already be good enough, we were able to also get the legedndary Texas Horns . The three gentlemen of the Texas Horns have played with the 'who is who' in jazz and blues and recorded on over 250 recordings. They hold doctoral degree in music from The University of Texas Austin. A better and more exciting line-up is not possible anymore.

With her last album the fabulous “The Ice Queen”, Sue is playing with local heroes such as Jimmie Vaughan and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame. And she remains very conscious of the great Texas blues tradition, just like Sue Foley once so memorably remarked to the Los Angeles Times, “I wanna be the female Clarence Gatemouth Brown. I wanna be seventy-five, a wicked guitar player, and ornery as hell!” Sue Foley may just have turned fifty, but she is definitely on her way to reaching these lofty goals.

Sue Foley - guitar, vocals
Laura Chavez - guitar
Kaz Kazanoff - saxophone, harmonica, flute, vocals
John Mills - saxophone, clarinete, flute
Al Gomez - trumpet
Jon Penner - bass
Corey Keller - drums
